The new BikeTrial Technical Rules 2026 - R53 are online, discover the changes in this latest version
The new BikeTrial rules provide for 3 new features regarding the classification system in case of a tie, the starting system, and disciplinary penalties.
Art. 29 CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM
Competition - Group A, B, H
The placing will be determined by the total penalty points.
The rider with the lowest points will be the winner of the competition, and so on. In the case of ties,
the placing will be determined by the order as follows: (Refer to the chart 1)
a) The rider with more 0 points. (Clean).
b) The rider with more 1 points.
c) The rider with more 2 points.
d) The rider with more 3 points.
e) the rider who went furthest around the total number of sections with the least number of marks.
f) The rider who wins the additional sections. (The tie decider will be run over 3 sections from the next
higher category. In the case there is still a tie the rider with the shortest accumulated total time spent
in the tie decider sections will be deemed the winner).
Art. 40 THE START
1) The order of riders will be determined by a ballot for each category.
2) The start will be made individually, with intervals of time as determined by Jury, Organizer and DOE.
Official Starting list will be made as agreed by Jury, Organizer and DOE. The starting list will be
published on the Official Board at least 2 hours before the start.
3) in the case where the organiser splits the start section, all riders of the same category will start at
the same section. The sections must be done in sequence.
Art. 44 DISCIPLINARY PENALIZATION
12 -The rider must walk or ride the whole course on the bicycle used for the trial.
They cannot ride any other bicycle (e.g. MTB, electric / motorbike) and cannot have their bicycle transported / carried by anyone on an car, motorcycle, MTB, electric / motorbike.
